San Francisco Marathon

About the San Francisco Marathon print

The San Francisco Marathon starts and finishes on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building. Along the way it crosses the Golden Gate Bridge, briefly enters Marin County and returns through Golden Gate Park, so the route poster holds a line that reaches across the water and then back into the city.

Our trace records about 310 m of climbing over the full distance, so this is a course that asks for real effort. First held on 10 July 1977, the race is run in the summer, and the 2026 edition took place on 26 July. In 2025 there were 6,614 marathon finishers.

Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on foot and then finishing by the Ferry Building makes for a day that stays with you. Add your race date and finish time, and the print becomes your own record of a San Francisco marathon, from the Embarcadero out over the bridge and home again.

Give your San Francisco finish a place on the wall.

Personalise the route with your title, race date and finish time.
