About the California International Marathon print
The California International Marathon runs point to point, from Folsom Dam to the California State Capitol in Sacramento. That single direction of travel gives the route poster a strong, purposeful line, starting in Folsom and arriving at one of Sacramento's most recognisable buildings. First held in 1983, it is one of the ten largest marathons in the US, with just under 10,000 finishers.
The course is net downhill: it starts at 366 ft (112 m) and finishes at 26 ft (7.9 m). Our trace still records about 70 m of climbing along the way, so there are rises to run as well as descents. The men's course record of 2:07:35 was set in 2024.
