About the Honolulu Marathon print
The Honolulu Marathon starts near Ala Moana Beach Park and finishes in Kapiolani Park, Waikiki. Along the way it passes Diamond Head and winds through Hawaii Kai, so the route poster carries some of the best-known names on Oahu in a single, unbroken line, from the first mile to the last.
First held on 16 December 1973, the race is run on the second Sunday in December. It is open to everyone in a way few big marathons are: there is no lottery, no qualifying time and no time limit, and about 20,000 runners finish each year. Our trace records about 100 m of climbing.
With no time limit, every runner who starts has the chance to finish, and every finish counts, whether you raced the clock or took your time. Add your race date and finish time to the print, and the route from Ala Moana to Kapiolani Park becomes your own record of a December marathon in Hawaii.
