In 2025 the marathon started on Yonge Street near Elm Street and finished at Nathan Phillips Square, beside Toronto City Hall, so the route poster begins and ends in the heart of the city with the lakeshore in between.
Established in 2000, the race is a World Athletics elite-label road race. The course records are 2:05:00, set by Philemon Rono in 2019, and 2:20:44, set by Waganesh Mekasha in 2024.
