Houston Marathon
About the Houston Marathon print
The Houston Marathon is a flat course that takes in a wide sweep of the city. It runs through Houston Heights, Hermann Park, Rice University, Uptown, Memorial Park and along Allen Parkway before finishing at the George R. Brown Convention Center. On a route poster that becomes a broad loop tying many of Houston's best-known places together.
The race was first run on 30 December 1972 with 113 runners. Today entries are capped at 27,000, split evenly between the full and half marathons. Our trace records about 40 m of climbing, and the course has seen quick running: Keira D'Amato set the women's course record of 2:19:12 here in 2022.
Flat does not mean easy over 26.2 miles. Add your race date and finish time to your print, and this route through the Heights, the parks and the city centre becomes a personal record of a January marathon in Houston and all the training it took to get you there.
