All questions
Where does the Great South Run start and finish?

It starts on Southsea Common and finishes on the Southsea seafront. In between, the course loops through Old Portsmouth, Gunwharf Quays, the Historic Dockyard and the city centre, then runs out along the seafront to Eastney and back.

How long is the Great South Run?

Ten miles, or 16.1 km. Our trace of the course measures 16.1 km.

Very. It is a road course at sea level, and our trace records only about 15 m of climbing. The wind off the Solent is usually the bigger test.

Does the print show this year's course?

Can I include my race date and finish time?

Yes. Add your race date, finish time and title to make the print a personal record of your run.

Which course will my print use?

The ready-made route is the 2026 course. For a different year or the exact activity you recorded, use your own Strava activity or GPX.

Great South Run

About the Great South Run print

The Great South Run is one of the biggest 10-mile races in the world, run every October in Portsmouth. It starts on Southsea Common and heads into Old Portsmouth, past Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower, round the Historic Dockyard and through the city centre. Then it turns for the sea: out along the Southsea seafront to Eastney and back to the finish, with the Solent beside you for the last few miles.

It is about as flat as a road race gets, with only 15 m of climbing on our trace, so the sea breeze is what most finishers remember. Add your race date and finish time, and the print becomes a record of your own ten miles from Southsea Common to the seafront finish.
