A loop of Hamburg from the Messe, west along the Elbe to Othmarschen, back past the harbour and the Jungfernstieg, then north round the Alster to Alsterdorf and home. This is the 2026 course.

All questionsWhere does the Hamburg Marathon start and finish?
Both are on Karolinenstrasse beside the Hamburg Messe, at the edge of St Pauli and close to Planten un Blomen.
Does the Hamburg Marathon run around the Alster?
Yes. The course follows the eastern shore of the Aussenalster on the way north and comes back down the western side through Harvestehude.
Is the Hamburg Marathon course flat?
Mostly. There are short rises in Altona and along the Elbchaussee, but the course climbs only about 90 m in all.
Can I include my race date and finish time?
Yes. Add your race date, finish time and title to make the print a personal record of your run.
Which course will my print use?
The ready-made route is the 2026 course. For a different year or the exact activity you recorded, use your own Strava activity or GPX.
What sizes can I choose?
Choose 30 × 40 cm (about 12 × 16 in) or 50 × 70 cm (about 20 × 28 in). Both are printed on 200gsm premium matte paper.
Is a frame included?
You can add a ready-to-hang wooden frame in black, white, natural or dark wood when you order. It arrives with the print already fitted. Or order the print on its own to frame it yourself.
How long does delivery take?

About the Hamburg Marathon print
The Hamburg Marathon starts and finishes beside the Messe on the edge of St Pauli. The first miles head west through Altona and out along the Elbchaussee above the river, before the course turns back towards the harbour, the Speicherstadt and the Jungfernstieg in the city centre.
From there it follows the eastern shore of the Aussenalster north through Winterhude and Barmbek to the far point in Alsterdorf, then comes back down past the western side of the lake through Harvestehude to the finish. Run each April, it is one of Germany's big spring marathons. Add your race date and finish time, and the print keeps your own 26.2 miles round Hamburg.
